Over the years I’ve created a huge number of diagrams to help people decide what kind of post they want for their piercing jewelry.

These diagrams have never been collected in one place before but starting today I’m going to try to keep them all here. I attempt to keep the color coding consistent between graphics, although over the years there have been changes between generations of posts I’ve designed.

This is a 22 gauge wide, 10mm long, Surgical Steel Post. The backs are hypoallergenic silicone AND titanium backs (you get both options). It’s the classic stud earring. I can make them, but now that we have flat-back options, I wouldn’t wear one.

This is a 20 gauge threadless post. It is 6mm long the design is attached to a surgical steel pin. It is thin enough that it should fit in most standard lobe piercings.

This is a 20 gauge 8mm threadless post. It has a flat back and should fit in most standard lobe piercings. This one is a little longer in case you have a thicker hole.

This is an 18 gauge 6mm threadless post.

This is an 18 gauge 6mm internally threaded surgical steel post. The base is a little narrower than the 16 gauge posts, which helps me to tell them apart. This is threaded at .9mm, as is every other internally threaded 18 and 16 gauge post that I have available.

This is a 16 gauge flexible bioplastic post. It’s a silicone-like plastic that is usable for piercings that might run into teeth. Metal against teeth is generally a bad thing, so this option offers a little protection in exchange for less durability. I always send along an extra post because they don’t last forever.

This is a 16 gauge wide, 8mm long, internally threaded surgical steel post.

This is a thicker post than the standard ones. It’s for piercings that are a wider gauge. The internally threaded designs that fit all the other internal thread pieces will not fit this one. This is threaded at 1.2mm. It is, at least, interchangeable with the 12g post.

This is a 12 gauge internally threaded surgical steel post. It’s 8mm long, but can be special ordered in a variety of lengths.
